Health and wellness have been gaining a lot of popularity in the last couple of years, and now more than ever, they have become integrated into our lives in every aspect. Being healthy has become a factor in everything we do, from the way we eat to the way we live. Almost every second person has healthy eating, exercising and mindfulness apps on their phones, or a fitness tracking device strapped to their wrists.

This new obsession with being healthy is one we greatly appreciate, because it’s opening up all kinds of doors for us to take better care of, and understand our bodies. And attempting to live a healthier lifestyle from early on is only beneficial to us in the long run. But it can also be annoying sometimes, especially when you just feeling like curling up in bed, eating French fries and watching a movie, instead of trying out some funky new exercise moves followed by a healthy smoothie.

Instead Of The Quintessential Honeymoon

Coming back to the point though, one of the newest wellness trends that seems to be becoming increasingly popular is the ‘yogamoon’. No, we don’t mean practicing yoga to the cycles of the moon, we’re talking about yoga-based honeymoons.

Newly-married, and even non-married or long-time couples have taken to a new trend that involves a two-person holiday to a yoga or wellness retreat, as opposed to a regular honeymoon or casual holiday. Couples are starting to go to locales with dedicated yoga or wellness resorts, or places with a program that allows for them to practice yoga together, rejuvenate and connect with nature. Gone are the days when honeymoons or holidays were all about lazing around, and eating and drinking all the time. People in 2017 want more than that, and they want to be healthy, even when they’re on holiday.

Another thing about yogamoons, and doing yoga with your partner in general, is that allows you both to connect on a much deeper level, and even has the ability to strengthen your relationship. And for that, we totally get the appeal. Places like Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos, and Amansala in Tulum, Mexico, offer the perfect location and packages for a yogamoon. Yoga retreats and spas in places like Goa and Rishikesh too, are easily attainable for yogamoons within the country. While we are quite in awe of this new practice of yogamoons, and might even try it someday, for now, we’re going to take pride in being our inherently lazy selves while on holiday.
