Postpartum weight gain is real, and as much as women crib about it and want to shed those kgs in the fastest way possible, we all know just how much work and dedication it takes. While most of us have the liberty to take our time and knock off the extra kilos, when you’re a woman in sport and fitness is a prerequisite, there’s an unspoken but undeniable pressure to speed up the process, especially if you want to get back into the game.
Sania’s postpartum weight gain and weight loss journey
As tough as it sounds, tennis superstar Sania Mirza has managed to go from 89Kgs to 63Kgs in a span of four months, and now wants women all around the globe to know — if she can do it, anyone can. Sania and her hubby Shoaib Malik welcomed their baby boy Izhaan on October 30 last year, after which the new mom became heavier than she was.
In a recent post, Sania took to Instagram to share her inspiring journey with her followers. She wrote: “89 kilos vs 63 we all have goals.. everyday goals and long term goals .. take pride in each one of those .. It took me 4 months to achieve this goal of mine, to get back to being healthy and fit after having a baby .. feels like such a long way. To come back and regain fitness and being able to compete at the highest level again .. Follow your dreams. No matter how many ppl tell you, you can’t cause God knows how many of those we have around us. If I can then anyone can #believe #mummahustles”
How Sania dropped 26Kgs in only 4 months
As we told you earlier, Sania had shared her 26Kg weight-loss story some time ago, raising many questions as to how she became so lean in such a short span of time. Addressing everyone’s doubts, she had taken to the ‘gram to say: “I put on 23 kilos when I was pregnant and have managed to lose 26 kilos in the span of 4 months or so with a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication. I read msgs from women all the time as to how they find it so difficult to come back to ‘normalcy’ after childbirth and don’t take care of themselves or don’t find the motivation or inspiration. Ladies, I just wanna say if I can do it then anyone else can too. Believe me that one hour or 2 hours a day to yourself will do wonders to you physically but so much mentally as well.”
“The toughest thing for me after pregnancy has been trying to get my core to be as strong as it was before I had Izhaan,” she added.
Well, kudos to you Sania! Here’s wishing you all the luck and good health in the days to come.
