Feeling A Low Sex Drive? Here’s What Could Be The Cause

Women, unlike men, don’t have physical indicators that our sex drive is low. For men over 40 at least, a low sex drive shows in things like erectile dysfunction. You can literally see that he is just not getting it on–and up. Women are more complicated.

How many times have you gone home and felt too tired to do much beyond watch your favourite Netflix show and order in food to eat? On such days, if your partner tries to initiate sexy time, you won’t be too pleased or enthusiastic.

What causes this loss/lack of a sex drive in women?

Lack of sleep

When you lack sleep or you have disturbed sleep, you get crabby and irritable. You don’t just snap at your annoying colleague or your cab driver when you’re lacking sleep, your irritability extends to other areas of your life as well.

When you’re commuting to work, working all day, juggling meetings and presentations while also trying to figure out what you should cook for dinner on less sleep, you’re not going to want to get hot and heavy with your partner. You’re just too tired.

Work stress

There’s a reason so many self-help books tell you to leave work at work. We are distracted if we go home and only think about deadlines and unfinished projects. Not to mention the fact that we feel super stressed out as well

Stress is a libido killer. You don’t want to have sex when you’re worrying about other things. So,it’s best to leave work in the office. Don’t take it home.

Disconnect with your partner

This doesn’t mean that you’re no longer in love with your partner. It can be something as small as a silly argument that hasn’t been properly resolved. Or you wanted to try something new but he wasn’t game. In such cases, you might feel disconnected from your partner.

Sex with someone you’re committed to is based on a deep connect more than anything else. Anything that disrupts that is bound to cause a lack of interest in sex with a partner you feel disconnected from.

So the next time you’re feeling a low sex drive, evaluate what has been going on in your life and relationship. Sometimes, the solution is easier than expected. If it isn’t, you can always seek professional help. A low sex drive every once in a while is normal.
