Taking this philosophy forward, MensXP has collaborated with one of Asia’s biggest YouTubers, CarryMinati, a.k.a. Ajey Nagar, for their latest #YouDoYou campaign. CarryMinati talked about everything from accepting his true identity to embarking on a risky trajectory to be where he is today.
CarryMinati on rejecting a conventional path of living life

In his interview with MensXP, CarryMinati reflects back to the time when he discussed with his father about pursuing this unconventional career path. “Papa ne bola tha ki ‘dekho beta, tum akele nahi ho, bahut log kar rahe hain ye same cheez, bahut mushkil hai ki tumhara kuch ho jaye. Agar tum uss cheez se aware ho aur tumhe wo cheez realise hoti hai, to tum kar lo’. (Dad had told me that a lot of people are doing the same thing, it’s very difficult that you’ll be able to make a living out of it. So, if you’re aware of this, then go ahead),” he said.
Now, a few years down the line after rejecting a conventional path of living life, he is one of the most successful YouTubers, who is known for his sharp-tongued personality and fearless self-expressions. In the video, he also shares how he always struggled with appreciating himself, courtesy of hateful comments on social media platforms.
However, he has now stopped striving for perfection, realising that it does not exist and only gets in the way of living life to the fullest. He also encourages people to create their own rules, and chart their own paths.

In a world where men are constantly reminded of their ‘unmanly’ behaviours when they don’t believe in society’s unrealistic standards of masculinity, it becomes challenging to truly dare to be themselves. The ability to move through life unaffected by unsolicited remarks isn’t easy, but accepting one’s authentic self makes it possible.
