❤️Fifty Five and smiling from the inside out…. Finally back to the original 1964. Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, exstensions and all the bullshit I thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a sexy woman should look like until the toxicity of it all almost killed me………. Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body. It took me many years of undoing some bad choices I made for myself before I finally found the freedom to sustainable internal beauty and acceptance of what is the best version of myself by nobody’s standards but my own…………………….It’s on us to learn to love our selves and celebrate our unique, one of a kind beauty at all ages as we move through this journey called “life”. Beauty has no meaning without your health………………. #ShamelessSelfie #55 #BeautyStartsFromWithin #AgeComesWithWisdom

She shared how the stereotyped notions of beauty in the society and years of working in the fashion industry conditioned her to believe that her authentic self wasn’t appealing enough. She further elaborated that in order to feel sexy, she underwent multiple surgeries and implants until the toxicity “almost killed” her.

This powerful message resonates with all of us, who at some point have (or still are) struggling with body dysmorphia–dissatisfied, anxious, and depressed by how we look. The portrayal of the ‘desirable female’ in popular culture, cinema, and the beauty industry has created unrelenting opinions and beauty ideals. We’ve been told that confidence, successful careers, and probable grooms come easy to fair-skinned and radiantly-grinning girls with hairless limbs and luscious mane. Guess what–we’ve all bought this farce so easily!

Over the last few months, we have seen a paradigm shift in an industry that has been infamous for elitism, exclusivism, and unrealistic beauty standards. Body positivity has changed our mindsets and now we are more open, liberal, and inclusive–thanks to the power of social media!

Yolanda further expressed: “Health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body. It took me many years of undoing some bad choices I made for myself before I finally found the freedom to sustainable internal beauty and acceptance.”

❤️Looking good feeling bad………. the invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease…. After a wonderful year in remission I just found out that my Lyme is active again after 6 years of consistent treatment. I trust god doesn’t give me more then I can handle and that the higher purpose of this journey isn’t complete so I will continue to be a voice for those who can’t be heard. Unfortunately the CDC keeps denying that chronic Lyme exists, health insurances covers 2-4 weeks of doxycycline and then patients are left to fight for themselves which ultimately financially devastates them while struggling to stay alive. Although battling severe symptoms I came out last night to support the Global Lyme Alliance because the injustice of this disease keeps me awake at night. I continue this fight not only for 2 of my 3 children but all the children in the world affected by this devastating and debilitating disease. The world came together so beautifully to find a solutions for the AIDS epidemic which started a decade after the first case of Lyme disease was diagnosed in 1972. We all deserve equal treatment and a cure affordable for all so let’s fight together for a Lyme Free World. #LymeDiseaseAwareness #WeMustFindACure #AffordableForAll
