5 Clever And Convenient Ways To Keep Fit This Festive Season

It’s that dreaded time of the year yet again, when the calories go up, and fitness goes out the window. We go through the same cycle year after year, and it’s almost as if we get fit during the summer, only to be okay with getting out of shape during the festive season. We watch the scale rising one kilo at a time and feel like shit about it at first, until we simply give up and give in. Of course, getting an hour of a workout in is just not possible when you have a calendar full of taash parties, and roads full of traffic that seem to be going nowhere. And that’s fine. But, we seem to forget that a full workout is not the only way to stay fit. You can keep your abs tight, even without hitting the gym every day. Here’s how.

1. Skip the elevator

Befriend the stairs for a couple of months. At office, when you go for the aforementioned parties, when you’re trying to catch the metro… or simply when you have a free window, and you’re kinda’ bored: take the stairs!

2. Drink a lot of water

You should get enough water every single day anyway, but this becomes all the more important during the festive season. Not only does it detox your system, it also prevents you from over-eating. Our minds sometimes misinterpret thirst as hunger, and we end up eating more than we need to. Avoid doing this by having a glass of water handy. Also, great for avoiding hangovers!

3. Start your day with warm lemon honey water

It kicks off digestion, it’s great for your skin, and a pretty decent cure for hangover. Add ginger for a an extra boost for good digestion and immunity.

4. Do quick full-body workouts

You can’t keep up with your gym routine, so don’t even try. Instead, for a couple of months, keep your body moving with five to 15 minute full-body workouts. Planks, burpees, jumping jacks, and combinations of these serve the purpose. You can find plenty of videos online that you can follow.

5. Get a massage

If there is psychological or physical stress, the body functions at a less than optimum level. Stress especially affects digestion. Festive season comes with a lot of stress! Even if you may be having a while lot of fun, the body still goes through physical stress (the high heels, the long nights, all the dancing etc). Get a massage to help your body and mind relax, and allow it to function at its best.
