As much as we want and need sleep, more often than not, getting a good night’s rest is harder than we think. With our smart phones permanently stuck to our hands, and something or the other always on our minds, falling asleep is often a task. Plus, our schedules are more unpredictable than the weather. But we can sleep better if we try, and here are a few ways to do so.
Scheduling is key
Setting up a sleep schedule that you stick to, every day, is the best thing you can do to snooze well. Once your body gets used to a sleeping and waking schedule, you will automatically want to sleep at the same time, and you will wake up automatically at a set time, as well. Just make sure you don’t disrupt your schedule too often.
Be comfortable
When sleeping, make sure you’re in a comfortable position. Whether it’s on the couch, a mattress on the ground, or your own bed, finding yourself a comfortable space and position will ensure that good sleep doesn’t evade you. And it’ll prevent you from waking up multiple times, as well.
Turn off the lights
This not only means turning off the lights in your room, but also setting your gadgets aside and giving yourself a break from technology. The darker it is, the sleepier you will feel, and the longer you will sleep.
Time your naps well
If you’re free in the afternoon, and feel like taking a nap post lunch (like most of us do), make sure you take one during the early afternoon. Taking a nap post 3pm can interfere with your nightly sleep cycle, and you won’t be able to sleep per schedule.
