Chai over coffee or coffee over chai? Well, this has been a never-ending debate. If you’re a chai lover, you are going to agree and relate to each point being raised against coffee in this read. If you’re a coffee addict, by the end of this read you will have no option but to agree that chai is so much better than coffee.

Tea has a variety which coffee doesn’t

Masala chai, adrak chai, elaichi chai, adrak-elaichi chai, milk tea, black tea, green tea, Darjeeling tea, Nilgiri tea, white, yellow tea, ginger tea, lemon tea, oolong tea, herbal tea… gosh, the list is too long! Coffee lovers, do you have this wide a range? No! So, who wins?

Tea is more flavoursome, accept it

We admit coffee has a unique and distinctive flavour but nothing beats the flavour of a well-made cup of chai. Period! The aroma of chai just takes over all your senses, making you go weak in the knees. This point isn’t up for debate, let’s just leave it at that.

You can have chai at tapris, not coffee

Tea is widely and easily available at every nook and corner of every city, big or small doesn’t matter. You don’t get coffee at tapris. Also, you can have chai in kulhads and glasses, but you can’t have coffee in the same. It’s all about the little joys in life. Relishing chai blended with the earthen aroma of a kulhad is invincible. With the ongoing monsoons, can a mug of coffee beat the joy of sipping tea standing at a tapri (read: tea stall), all drenched in the rain? No, right?

Tea is not bitter, coffee is

We don’t need to emphasize this. Tea has a sweetened flavour and taste which fills our taste buds and soul with so much joy that no amount of coffee can ever can.

Tea bags can be used to treat skin problems

Ahem! Ahem! Did you know the caffeine and tannin content in tea bags helps reduce dark circles, and soothes puffiness under the eye? Especially, green tea bags. Not just that, it also cures sunburns and acts as a great facial toner. Oh, the green tea bags calm chapped lips and provide hydration too. In fact, you can also use it as a scrubber for the perfect skin glow.

You can have tea with Indian snacks

Chai and samosa, chai and garma garam pakoras, and so much more–are a combination made in heaven. Can you relish a samosa with coffee? No! It would be the weirdest combination ever. So, DON’T EVEN TRY!
