Yumcha Vie at Phoenix Market City in Mumbai

Located close to the main entrance of the maze-like structure of Phoenix Market City, Yumcha Vie is an Oriental restaurant with a relatively open setup. Equipped to accommodate quite a number of guests, the restaurant has booths too, which I preferred without a doubt. One of the attentive staff soon scurried over to take our order.

We began with Tom Yum Soup with Prawns, which had just the right amount of tangy and spicy to flavour the fresh prawns and mushrooms in it.

On the waiter’s recommendation, we picked Burnt Chilli Chicken for our starter. It turned out to be a medium-spicy dish that tantalised our tastebuds, offering a unique oriental flavour to the succulent pieces of chicken. We liked this one so much that we saved some to savour with our main course.

Now that we had tried prawns (soup) and chicken (starter), it only seemed right to pick a fish option for our main course. So Fish in Black Bean Sauce with Burnt Garlic Rice it was. The basa fish was less than we’d hoped for but nothing to complain about. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t recommend this one. Thankfully, we still had our Burnt Chilli Chicken to dig into, which went well with the Burnt Garlic Rice.

After all of this, we were quite full and about to hang up our forks when our waiter popped by asking about dessert. Out of the three desserts on the menu, however, two (Apple Toffee and Banana Toffee) were not available. So we had no choice but to pick the Honey Noodles and Ice Cream. Luckily, the warm, crunchy noodles drizzled with honey accompanied by vanilla ice cream satiated our palates and made up for the lack of dessert choices.

All in all, I’d say Yumcha Vie offers a value-for-money Oriental dining experience and is perfect for families enjoying a weekend at the mall.
