We recently visited The Daily – Bar & Kitchen, which had shut down for renovation, and boy are we excited about the new vibe of this place. With awesome monochrome interiors and a swanky, up-market feel, we think the pub behind Shopper’s Stop in Bandra is now bolder and better!

We seated ourselves in a booth close to the door, and browsed through their new drinks menu. I was quite pleased with the ample selection of sangrias, and decided to try the Red Wine Sangria, which had bourbon, rosso, orange juice and apple juice along with pieces of red apple, orange and a hint of rosemary. We also called for Scarecrow, a mocktail, which contained kiwi, sour mix, cinnamon, lime and ginger ale. As we sipped on our drinks and took delight in the live music, courtesy the very talented Vernon Noronha, we couldn’t help but think that The Daily has certainly got their drinks right. Despite experimenting with the quintessential sangria, they have a concoction totally worth trying. I’m told that the other sangria options are equally awesome. The mocktail too was quite refreshing, especially if you are a cinnamon fan.

We paired our drinks with a bowl of Poached Pear and Baby Arugula salad, drizzled with balsamic and red wine dressing. The perfect sangria accompaniment. The arugula leaves were fresh while the flavours of the poached pear in red wine were rich and satisfying.

We moved on to the starters – sumptuous Bacon and Chicken Roll-Ups, served with a decadent carbonara sauce and the Day & Night Flatbread. The latter was topped with cream cheese, and caramelised onion jam and arugula leaves. The combination of the toppings and the crispy flatbread was delighted our tastebuds. The roll-ups though were a tad too heavy and made us feel too full even before the main course arrived.

Nevertheless, we couldn’t resist The Daily’s Seafood Paella and gave it a try. The perfectly moist dish infused with saffron simply wowed our tastebuds and got us ready for dessert – Sambuca Spiked Creme Brûlée. The perfect consistency and mild flavour of the dessert was certainly an ideal way to end our evening at The Daily.

I’d say you must visit the refurbished restaurant, especially for the swanky decor and the great music. Hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to catch Vernon too.
