The delectable cooked-to-perfection basa
Situated in the heart of the city, Salt Water Café is the newest entrant in the long list of restaurants that have been entertaining Mumbai-ites.
The ambience is easy going with glass walls that enable you to look out onto the busy streets of Churchgate. The spacious and comfortable seating arrangement makes it easy for you to enjoy a care-free, relaxed meal. There’s a section with a lounge-style seating area where you are welcomed by a large bar and foot-tapping music.
The café offers Mediterranean cuisine with a variety of salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, risotto and more, but we feel that their sparkling cocktails stirred to perfection are their specialities. We were floored by the coffee paired with tiramisu sparkling and the pomegranate sparkling cocktails.
For starters, we tried the bell pepper crostini made in pesto and garnished with cheese followed by marinated mushrooms which were quite appetising.
Since we swear by sea-food, we chose the cold ceaser prawns salad that came with seasoned prawns covered in mayo on a bed of lettuce. Delicious, we say!
Moving onto the main course, we went with the chef’s advice and ordered for the pan seared basa stir fried in citrus and butter served with mashed potatoes. I think this was the best decision we took during the course of the dinner. The melt-in-the-mouth fish was cooked flawlessly bringing out the flavours of lime, greasy texture of butter and the fiery taste of the spices that transported us to a gastronomic paradise. We totally recommend it!
Salt Water Café also has a good variety of desserts, breads, croissants, muffins and sandwiches on sale. Just browsing through them will tempt you want to pack some for breakfast.
For dessert, we digged into the sinful flourless chocolate brownie cake and also loved the kiwi melon frappe that the chef insisted we try.
This place is perfect to unwind with your loved ones over a casual dinner and some amazing drinks. Minus the wait for the orders to arrive, which is quite bearable, this place is a hit!
