I am a hater of all things routine and eating the same old Indian ghar ka khana is one of those things I distress after every four to five days. So in my attempt to eat something different I tried my hands at making lasagne with white chicken filling. Lasagne is usually prepared with red filling but my kids don’t like the tomato overdose much so I gave this dish a little twist and made it with a creamy, white sauce and chicken mix. Needless to say, it turned out just fine.
The recipe is simple and makes for a perfect party meal. So go ahead and try it out.
Ingredients:
Lasagne strips (store bought)
1 breast piece chicken, boiled
1 tsp butter
Salt and pepper for seasoning
Oregano
Chilli flakes
2 tbsp maida
2 tbsp milk
Water or chicken stock
Parmesan cheese
Method:
1. Clean and boil the chicken. Cut it into small cubes.
2. Cook the lasagne strips as per instructions on the packet.
3. Heat a saucepan and add butter to it along with salt and pepper, oregano and chilli flakes (1/2 tsp each). Sauté them together.
4. Add two full tablespoons of maida and mix well. Add some milk and chicken stock for consistency. It should make a thick gravy.
5. Add the boiled chicken, mix all together and check for seasoning.
6. Then in a baking dish put one layer of the lasagne strips. Top with the white sauce chicken gravy and finish with generous amounts of shredded parmesan cheese spread evenly.
7. Sprinkle some more seasoning like salt, pepper, chilli flakes and oregano.
8. Add the second layer of lasagne strips and follow as before. Continue until the baking dish is full. In the end sprinkle parmesan cheese.
9. Keep it in the oven for around 15 minutes on approximately 200 degree Celsius or until the cheese melts.
10. Remove and relish along with garlic bread or as it is as an appetiser.
