Bring in a sweet end to a day long fast
For all those women fasting on the occasion of Karva Chauth today, this isn’t to temp you. Rather it is a good way to celebrate after starving for the entire day. After all, festive celebrations are incomplete without a sugar rush. This mouth-watering dessert is made of sweet potatoes and generous amounts of ghee. Prepare this Shakarkandi Halwa in advance so that you can gorge on it once the moon is out and you are ready to break your fast.
Ingredients:
200 gms sweet potatoes (shakarkandi)
100 gms sugar
75 gms khoya
50 gms ghee
2 tbsp nuts, chopped
Method:
1. Remove the skin of the potatoes and boil them in a pressure cooker.
2. Allow the potatoes to cool, and then grate them.
3. Take ghee in a pan on a medium flame and add the grated sweet potatoes.
4. Saute the shakarkandi in ghee for five minutes.
5. Now add khoya with sugar and cook for ten minutes.
6. Garnish halwa with chopped nuts.
7. Shakarkandi ka Halwa is ready to serve.
