Looking for a Healthy Tiffin Box Snack? Try This Delicious Protein Laddoo Recipe

It is an ongoing quest to find a delicious, easy to make yet tempting protein snacks for kids. As a parent, you try everything. From getting creative to using deception to turning to your mother or mother-in-law for advice, you do it all. For me, what worked was the ‘Protein Laddoo’. It assumed many avatars in our home. From a pre-work out snack to a school treat to a soccer game winner (or so believes my daughter) it was everything. It went with us on biking trips, long drives and Movie Theater. Well it’s not often that you get lucky with such meals, so here’s sharing the recipe for you to try too.

Ingredients


500 grams whole green moong dal

500 grams whole ragi (finger millet)

500 grams putna dal (fried channa dal)

200 grams whole soya

200 grams oats

200 grams flax seeds

200 grams kulthi (horse gram)

100 grams lobhiya (big) (black eyed peas)

100 grams red

100 grams lobhiya (small)

200 grams rajma (red kidney beans)

200 grams rajma (black kidney beans)

100 grams dried corn

100 grams bajra (pearl millet)

100 grams jowar (sorghum)

100 grams whole wheat

200 grams masoor dal with skin (pink lentil)

100 grams red rice

200 grams toovar dal with skin (pigeon peas)

200 grams kabuli channa (garbanzo beans)

200 grams kala channa (black chickpeas)

200 grams white whole mattar (dried white peas)

200 grams green whole mattar (dried green peas)

200 grams val dal (white bean)

100 grams kaju (cashew nut)

100 grams badam (almonds)

100 grams till (sesame seeds)

100 grams moongphali (peanuts)

500 grams sabudana (tapoica sago)

Method:


Clean all the ingredients well and then roast each ingredient separately over medium flame, till you smell the fine roasted aroma.

Separate cashew nuts, almonds, sesame seeds and peanuts. Mix the rest of the roasted ingredients together and grind.

Coarse grind cashew nut, almonds, sesame seeds and peanuts separately. Mix it all together with ground lentils.

Add powered brown sugar or jaggery to the sweetness that you prefer.

Use ghee (clarified butter) to bind the mixture and roll it into small balls.

You can make it aromatic by adding powered cardamom and dry coconut. Enjoy the guilt free pleasure.
