Tips to perfectly cook white rice
Too soft, too dry, overcooked or worse, undercooked – that more or less traces our journey and attempts at making white rice. It’s the simple things that matter and we would like to master these everyday skills. Therefore, there is no better teacher than Tarla Dalal who tells you how to cook simple Basmati rice for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups long grained rice (basmati) , soaked for 30 minutes and drained
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
Method:
- Boil six cups of water in a deep pan, add the soaked and drained rice, salt and oil, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes or till the rice is 95% cooked.
- Drain, transfer to a plate and allow it to cool for two to three hours.
- Use as required.
