How to Make Chocolate and Beer Cake [Video]

Dig into the deliciousness of a beer and chocolate cake

Alcohol and chocolate – two favourite guilty pleasures combine to make a sinful dessert. When you are in a mood to experiment and seriously indulge your friends and family, bake a beer and chocolate cake. This naughty-and-nice combo will have everyone begging for the recipe. But trust us, you wouldn’t want to share THIS little secret.

 

 

Ingredients


2 cups of all purpose flour (maida)
½ cup of brown sugar
1½ tsp of baking soda
2 eggs
1 tbsp of coffee
½ cup of water
1 cup of cocoa powder
1½ cups of powdered white sugar
1 pint of beer, at room temperature

Method:

 

  1. First, boil the beer, butter and cocoa together. Pour the beer into a glass pot, add the butter and lastly the cocoa powder. Make sure you blend the three well with a wire whisk. Make sure there are no lumps. Let the mix boil on high flame.
  2. When the mix starts to boil, reduce the flame and add white sugar. Follow it up with the brown sugar.
  3. Take the whisk and start beating the mixture till the sugar melts. Once the mixture has boiled well with the melted sugar, turn off the gas and keep it aside to cool.
  4. Now, whisk the eggs in a separate bowl.
  5. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder.
  6. Take the coffee in a small bowl and add half a cup of water to make a coffee essence. Keep it aside.
  7. Make sure the beer, cocoa, butter and sugar mixture is at room temperature before adding the eggs to it. If it is hot, the eggs will react to the heat.
  8. Add the coffee concoction and make sure the egg and coffee are well incorporated into the batter.
  9. Now add the flour. Two or three spoons at a time so that no lumps form while whisking the batter. Fold it in gently.
  10. Take a bun tin and pour the mixture. Preheat the oven to 175 degree Celsius. Bake for about 35 minutes.
  11. Serve it with chocolate sauce or fondant. Enjoy!

 

Tip:

You can also substitute the beer with coke or any other soft drink. But make sure that you reduce the quantity of sugar by half if the cola is very sweet.
