Broken wheat upma for a healthy breakfast
To start your day on a healthy note, you need to eat a meal that’s full of nutrients and gives you the much-needed energy boost. Well, we have an amazingly easy and tasty recipe that won’t make breakfast a big dilemma for you. Here’s the recipe of fibre-rich broken wheat upma with the goodness of vitamin A, that you can savour for breakfast.
Ingredients:
½ cup broken wheat (dalia)
2 tsp oil
¼ tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
½ cup chopped onions
½ tsp grated ginger
¼ cup green peas
¼ cup chopped carrots
salt to taste
For garnish:
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
Method:
1.Clean and wash the broken wheat thoroughly. Par-boil the broken wheat in two cups of hot water for three to four minutes. Drain and keep aside.
2.Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, and add the mustard seeds.
3.When the seeds crackle, add the green chilies and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
4.Add the onions and ginger, mix well and sauté on a medium flame for one to two minutes.
5.Add the green peas and carrots, mix well and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
6.Add the broken wheat, salt and 1¼ cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for two whistles.
7.Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
8.Garnish with coriander and serve immediately.
