A chocolate rich birthday cake

With my love for all things sweet increasing at lightning speed, visiting a patisserie seemed like the best thing to happen to me all week. I was super kicked about my visit to Creme House Patisserie, located opposite the MIG Gymkhana in Bandra (East), Mumbai.

The little cake shop was stocked with a number of goodies like the attractive looking chocolate muffin covered with generous amounts of choco chips, a colourful spread of pastries and savoury delicacies like rolls, patties and sandwiches.

The spread looked impressive and I was eager to bite into a chocolate-dunked pastry. (Also, I was quite hungry from a long day at work and would be happy with anything!)

The decadent Boston Ripple Pastry

So I started off with the delicious chocolate pastry layered with cream that was crafted with perfect balance to soothe my senses and ease away all my worries. The Boston Ripple as it is called was a great beginning to a tasting session that followed. I was then served their signature Mango pastry called the Mango Hooky made with white chocolate and mango pulp. Yumm!

The chocolate brownie and the chocolate chip loaded muffin, which I was eyeing from the time I entered this dessert heaven, followed next. The overload of rich deliciousness had left no space for more. But the pastries were soft and totally worth a try, so I could barely say no.

You must be wondering how I managed to gorge on one sweet after the other. Well, I forgot to mention the amazing methi khari, butter garlic rusks and salted bread sticks we were served in between the sweets to balance out the flavours.

The crisp butter garlic rusks were my favourite with a rustic garlicky after-taste that I loved. These crunchy biscuit-type toasts are the perfect accompaniment with my evening tea. Their salty bread sticks too are a favourite and makes for a great side dish at drinking parties or so I’ve been told.

The patisserie also does some delectable chicken rolls, patties and sandwiches for folks who prefer savoury over sweet. Also available are multi-grain breads and cookies that promise to pack a punch of health into your daily diet.

For the upcoming Christmas season, the folks at Crème House will also be doing a richer, super premium version of the plum cake. They assured me that a 50-year-old authentic recipe has been perfected by them and the treat will be a complete delight. Maybe I’ll head there again!

Theme cakes

For parties, weddings and special occasions they also take orders and offer special cake consulting where the experts can guide you through the nitty gritties of choosing the right cake for the occasion. Customised cake orders are taken for a minimum of 1 Kg cakes and designer cakes happen to be one their most popular services.

If Bandra’s too far for you, Crème House Patisserie also has stores in Lower Parel and Goregaon in Mumbai. You could get in touch with them via their Facebook or Instagram page too.
