When you work as hard as I do, stepping out for a nice mid-week dinner is a delightful distraction. And for a music lover like me, what better way to enjoy a good meal than with live music. Hard Rock Café has the Sizzle Festival going on and it seemed like the perfect place to head out to, for some food and fun.

I went there last week with a friend, who shares my love for food and good cocktails. We reached the café and started with the rum-based cocktails. I opted for a Bacardi Rum Punch, which is a blend of Bacardi and pineapple juice, grenadine and Orgeat syrup. Tangy alcoholic beverage was just what I needed to unwind. While I enjoyed that, my friend ordered a Bacardi Smoked Apple Pie, which was green apple juice mixed with Bacardi and sweet spices. While it tasted very different from the punch, it was equally yummy.

The menu only offers cocktails and main course, without any mention of starters or desserts. So we decided to try the different sizzlers available. First, we ordered the Oriental Seafood Delight. It is assorted seafood stir fried in homemade tangy sambal olex sauce with anise spice and kafir lime. Served on a bed of oriental vegetables with noodles and crispy nacho straws, this was certainly a treat for our tastebuds. Full of flavour and tanginess, I couldn’t get enough of it.

Next came the Hungarian Steak Stew, a beef steak stew topped with exotic vegetables and served with smoked paprika rice and spiced potato wedges. After the seafood platter, we really had high expectations from this sizzler too, but sadly, it disappointed. Oily and a tad bland too, it couldn’t meet the standards set by its counterpart. The paprika rice was good, but the beef, not so much.

We decided to opt for chicken next, so the Herb Lemon Crusted Chicken Scallopini was next, The chicken served over smoky flavoured vegetables with chardonnay fondue sauce, crispy corn strips and black bean mousse was far better than the Hungarian Steak Stew. Considering it came highly recommended by our server, I expected it to be. Certainly a must-try I would say!

All in all, it was nice experience and one you wouldn’t regret trying. Visit Hard Rock Cafe for the festival, if you enjoy a sizzling meal and are tired of the usuals. The cocktails and music will only ensure a delightful evening.
