6 Icy Cocktails To Make If You Don't Want To Drink Same Ol' Beer All Summer

In weather as insanely hot as it is, drinking is among the most fun things you can do. But, how much beer, cold water, and iced tea can a person drink? If you’re wondering the same, we have some yummy and fresh cocktails for you to indulge in this summer. Be warned: they’re all icy cold and insanely delicious.

Nutcracker

This simple drink is also one of the healthiest alcoholic beverages you could possibly consume. First, because it contains vodka, which is low on calories, and second because it’s got coconut water, which has all the electrolytes you need to replenish your system during such oppressively hot weather. So how do you make it? Take a glass and fill 3/4ths of it with coconut water, and 1/4th with any un-flavoured vodka, such as a basic Absolut or Smirnoff. Throw in a lime wedge and sip your summer elixir away without worrying about calories or dehydration!

Elderflower cooler

Cucumber and gin drinks aren’t uncommon, and are undeniably refreshing. However, you can make it even more fragrant and summery with the addition of one severely underrated ingredient: elderflower liqueur. All you need is half a glass of club soda, 1/4th glass of Bombay Sapphire gin, and 1/4th elderflower liqueur. Add some lime juice to this to taste, and a slice of English cucumber. Your cool-as-a-literal-cucumber cocktail is ready.

Vodkermelon

Vodka and watermelon are a match made in heaven, so here’s how you can make the most of that this season. Puree a watermelon first, and then macerate it over a sieve till the juice comes out. Take 3/4th cup of this juice, and add 30ml un-flavoured Absolut, Smirnoff or Grey Goose vodka to it. Mix it, and garnish it with mint leaves. Add some ice, and your fruity cocktail is ready for consumption. Easy, right?

Cherry cola rum

If you simply can’t get over your love for Old Monk, this ought to do it for you.  Take 30ml dark rum, and add Coca Cola (not a sweet cola like Pepsi) to it till it’s 3/4th full. Now, squeeze a wedge of lemon into this. Take two cherries and de-seed them. Add them to your drink and mash them with the end of a spoon to release the juice. Throw in some ice and you’re all set!

Desi Colada

Everyone loves mangoes, but sometimes we bring home the mushy and too-sweet ones which are better consumed as milkshakes, or as we’re about to show you, cocktails. This mango colada is the perfect tropical heaven for those who love coconuts and mangoes. To make it, you need to blend your mango pulp in a mixer grinder, and for this, we recommend mangoes like alphonso. Filter it through a sieve into a glass, filling half the glass with the pulpy blend. Then, add 1/4th glass coconut water and 30ml white Bacardi rum to this. Now, you can enjoy your desi pina—oops, mango colada!

White wine sangria

Everyone has different sangria recipes they swear by, but nothing is as summer-ready as a chilled white wine cocktail. For this, you need a crisp, light, and sweet wine like the Sula Dindori white, or a sweet Riesling from a German or American brand (the Austrian ones won’t be sweet). To make a pitcher of this, pour the wine into a jug. Chop green Granny Smith apples, English cucumbers, and Honeydew melons, and add them to in. Let it sit overnight in the fridge so that the wine soaks up the flavours of these ingredients, and serve chilled the next day.
