Masala chai lovers have a special place in heaven. These people appreciate the distinct yet intermingled flavours of Indian spices. No other type of tea can ever compete with the refreshing, body-opening, mind-calming, and stress-relieving masala chai.

Masala chai is an Indian delicacy and if anyone tells you otherwise, then let them know you do not appreciate this negativity in your life. Masala chai and non-masala chai are two different things, and masala chai lovers do not exactly appreciate the latter. Here are a few other things we masala chai lovers relate to bohot hard:

We never order it at a fancy restaurant

It is a universal fact that a true masala chai connoisseur will never order a cuppa at upscale restaurants. They are too afraid to be let down and don’t want to risk their love for the beverage for the sake of experimentation.

We will have coffee, but not substandard chai

Most chai lovers do not appreciate coffee, and we have our reasons. That said, we do not want to have that half-heartedly prepared cup of tea that costs Rs 300 and a kettle-full of regrets. So we go for the safe option of coffee. Because you cannot dislike something you don’t already like.

Everyone has their own version of the perfect masala chai

Some like it kadak, while others prefer a light brew. Some like it with more water and less milk and others like milky sweetness in their cha. So the only way to go about it is to make your own version of this liquid elixir and let it dominate your senses.

The roadside chai is an experience

Most of us are very finicky about where we eat. We constantly wonder if the utensils are washed in clean water or cleaned at all and if the food is going to give us diarrhoea and other ailments. Irrespective of that, roadside chai is an experience. This includes your kulhad-wali chai, dhaba chai, and that over-sweetened chai at a roadside stall. Sure, you can ask the vendor to tweak it a little to suit your taste, but that man has regular customers for a reason! So enjoying a refreshing chai under the open sky is an experience all we chai lovers can vouch for.

Winter and chai–a match made in heaven

winter

Winter is anyway a tough season to get through and that cup of chai (or six) are your saviours. There is no denying that your morning cup, breakfast cup, afternoon cup, evening cup, and any other time you can fit in a cup are winter essentials. You don’t feel awake enough or functional enough without a kettle or two of tea in your system. It wakes up your senses, warms your body, relaxes you, and makes you whole again. Not to mention, Indian spices have been said to be beneficial for the body–so it’s masala chai FTW again y’all! However, summer and chai have a love-hate relationship. We bear the afternoon sun for that one cup of chai–now that’s commitment.

Assuming that you are already craving for that cup of your favourite masala chai, go ahead and indulge in the orgasmic blend of tea and spices. Slurp it all the way down to the last drop. Toodles!
