There is no better treat to go with your evening tea (even breakfast or midnight snack) than a good-old samosa. But for the heck of sit-at-home comfort and quick deliveries, people often compromise on the quality and taste of this savoury snack. The fried delight filled with chatpata potato mixture filling is basic yet hard to nail. What vada pav is to Mumbaikars, samosa is to Delhiites–and we only want perfection when it comes to it. A crispy, not too thick outer layer with a soft but not soggy aloo filling.

That said, all them fancy restaurants that sell samosas for 300 bucks and more don’t even get close to real-deal that roadside samosas are. Here are five unknown places to get mouthwatering samosas for cheap:

1. Uncle Ke Samose

The hidden market behind the Sangam Courtyard in RK Puram has one of the best samosas in Delhi. The man who runs the small thela sits from 6 pm – 9 pm, Monday to Saturday. He clearly knows the magic of his creation and doesn’t need to sweat it out with a nine-hour long shift.

The crispy, flavourful samosas are served smashed in a plate laden with a curd topping followed by mint chutney and chopped onions, tomatoes, and chillies. He also asks if you want a dash of chaat masala on top, which rarely anyone says no to. This amazing samosa paired with roadside tea from a nearby tea stall makes for a perfect break.

Side note: the stall has amazing gulab jamuns as well. One bite and they will melt in your mouth. It is a must visit!

Address: Market behind Sangam Courtyard, Major Somnath Marg, Sector 9, RK Puram.

Price: Rs 10 to Rs 20.

2. Shri Bankey Bihari Samose Wale

If you are looking to truly experience the taste of the original samosa recipe that Delhi takes pride in– prepare yourself to go down till Paharganj for it. You just need to bring yourself to the vicinity and the panwadis and locals will guide you to the samosa heaven. The crispy crunchy samosas are served with a chole aloo gravy which you just cannot say no to.

Address: Sri Bankey Bihari Samosa Wallah, 3177-79 Sangtrashan, Paharganj.

Price: Rs 10 – Rs 20.

3. Anupam Sweets

This is a risk we recommend you take. After writing off samosas from fancy restaurants, this sweet shop shouldn’t be here, but their wholesome filling along with the red and green chutney is worth it. Not to mention they also offer gravy that will make your mouth water.

Address: M 60, M Block Market, Greater Kailash 2 (GK 2), New Delhi.

Prices: Rs 15 to Rs 30.

4. Munni Ki Halwai

This place located in the heart of the city, Gole Market, serves samosas to die for. The size of their samosas will leave you satiated with just one, but we are not here to stop you from eating more. Served with spicy chole curry, it also comes with an evergreen mint chutney. So don’t forget to visit the spot when you’re in the market area for a delicious break.

Address: Gole Market, New Delhi.

Prices: Prices range from Rs 15 to Rs 30

5. Annapurna

The samosa here is not your everyday Punjabi variety–rather, they’re Bengali shingaras. The difference in recipe is that the filling consists of chickpea, peanut, and potato. Evidently crunchier, these samosas should be on your bucket list. Ask any Bengali friend or colleague to introduce you to this fried delicacy.

Address:

Prices: Prices Range from Rs 20 – Rs 50.
