Popcorn. The moment you hear the word, you begin to drool over the idea of having a bowlful of the ‘oh-so-delicious popcorn!’ while binge-watching your favourite movies or serial. But something holds you back. Yes it’s the dietician, who now lives in your head! But this time, instead of listening to her and giving up the idea of having this crunchy snack, you can try any one of these 5 lip-smacking seasonings that will not just make your popcorn delectable, but will also fare low on your calorie meter!

And before we start here’s something that you should know. Popcorn, quite surprisingly, is as good as any whole grain. It contains an array of healthy vitamins, including A, B and E. Moreover, prepared the right way (that is simply air-popping it, without butter or oil), a cup of popcorn (25 grams, when popped) will only contain 31 calories. So, get ready to learn how you need to season this snack, without losing out on its goodness!

1. The Dash of Spice
For a large bowl of popcorn, you need to add ½ teaspoon each of garlic powder, roasted cumin powder and curry powder. Add salt to taste and you’re good to go!

2. The Hot Wagon
Prepare a mix of black pepper, red chilli flakes and salt. Add this to a bowl full of popcorn. If your diet permits, add a dollop of low-fat butter. Mix it well and you are in for a hot and spicy delight!

3. The Italian Style
Add some grated parmesan cheese along with your favourite Italian herbs to a bowl of popped corn. Top it up with some extra-virgin olive oil. Toss well and enjoy your savoury treat!

4. The Sweet and Spicy Zing
To a bowl of popcorn, add a portion of low fat butter. Throw in some cayenne pepper and some cocoa powder, and mix well. Drizzle some cinnamon powder (only a pinch would do), and let your taste buds be tickled with this appetising snack!

5. The Out-of-the Box Punch
You will need salt, dried parsley leaves, dried thyme (again, just a pinch of it), pepper and turmeric. Also try getting your hands on some marjoram, if possible. Once you have it all, mix it well. Sprinkle this astoundingly divine seasoning over a bowl of freshly popped corn for a zestful nibble at any time of the day!
