Are you finding it hard to handle those midnight cravings when you are doing an all-nighter? Are they keeping you from concentrating on your studies, work or whatever book you’re reading these days? It’s hard to whip up something complicated that late at night and yet all you want is something light, filling, yet totally yummy. And let’s face it, there’s only so much of Maggi a person could have. So we’ve put together these really simple, super quick midnight snacks that won’t require much effort.

1. Honey Kettle Corn
Making cheese popcorn that late in the night is fraught with complications, mainly lack of cheese powder. Instead, try this yummy honey kettle corn. This is no compromise corn. In fact, there are times when I prefer kettle corn to cheese. You can make this in a pan, microwave or even pressure cooker.

2. Nutella Microwave Mug Cakes
These take only 3-4 minutes to make. And it’s nutella! Need we say more.

3. Bread Pizza
This is just bread, ketchup, chopped onion and capsicum and lots of cheese, cooked on a tava. Save those pizza seasoning sachets that come with home delivery orders. They come in handy at times like this.

4. Crisp Pan-Fried Potatoes
They don’t get the same kinda love like French Fries, but eating cottage potatoes is like eating a fat succulent chip. And that is exactly what you want late at night. The best part is that these are popped raw into the pan and stir fried until brown and crisp. Garnish with herbs.

5. Spicy Bhujia
All you need is a pack of bhujia, some chopped onion and tomato, chat masala and lime juice. Roasted peanuts is optional. This takes less than 10 minutes to make (depending on your chopping speed) and it’s uber filling and yummy!

6. Chilli Cheese Toast
This takes all of seven minutes to cook and requires at its barest, only four ingredients, bread, butter, cheese and chilli flakes. It can be pan fried too.

7. Kati Roll
This is real quick to make if you have some leftover chapatis and even better, some leftover paneer subzi. If not, fry paneer, onions and tomato (if you don’t feel like chopping, use readymade bhuna masala or tomato ketchup). Make a roll with the paneer subzi, chopped onions and cheese and hey presto! Paneer Kati Roll. Or some version of it.

8. Frozen Banana Ice Cream
We didn’t believe it until we tried it, but blitzing frozen bananas in a mixie really does transform them into a convincing alternative to soft-serve ice cream. Add some vanilla essence while blitzing it and serve with honey or grated chocolate. Just freeze the banana for some 20 -30 minutes before blitzing it. Yum!

9. Yoghurt Smoothie
You know that this is super quick. We are just here to remind you that this too makes for a great midnight snack and very filling too. You can use fruits like banana and strawberries. But if those aren’t handy at that moment, just use some vanilla essence and honey.

10. Chocolate Sandwich
You can make this on a tava too. All you need is bread and oodles of chocolate chips. Just make sure the tava is on a really low heat, so that gives you enough time to melt the chocolate.
