It’s all about efficiency! The main CFL bulb charges a separate LED light that switches on only when no light is present (CFL switched off), acting as a secondary nightlight. The small emissions of UV light produced by the CFL are collected by a solar panel, housed underneath the lid of the cylinder, which stores excess generated electricity in a rechargeable battery pack located at the base of the lamp. Looking beyond simple electrical efficiency – it also exploits a cost effective material combination of paper, PVC & plywood & an efficient manufacturing process to produce the final result.
