Do you ever wonder why Marie Kondo and all the organization tips we keep clicking on (thanks Buzzfeed!) are such endlessly clickable content for us? I believe, deep down, it’s from the sense of satisfaction we get at seeing something so immaculately fall into place – a place for everything and everything in its place. It’s the same sense of satisfaction I get from the beautifully arranged LEGO creations built by these master builders. It is a kind of puzzle making at play here, but puzzle makers have the final picture to compare to whereas these LEGO pieces are playing only in the canvas on the artist’s mind. Using over 100,000 LEGO pieces, designer Ekow Nimako imagines the Kumbi Saleh 3020 CE a Ghanaian metropolis 1000 years in the future. This artwork is the centerpiece for his exhibition titled Building Black Civilizations and showcases details like nothing you have ever seen before, almost reminiscent of the Game of Thrones title sequence! Oh, and if anyone wants a challenge, I truly believe it would be awesome to have a LEGO title sequence for Game of Thrones!
Nate Mielnik – also known on Instagram as @brickdistorted, distorted our view of what Stormtrooper looks like, and this colorful take on the helmeted soldier is here to make your day! Truth be told, the colored version is much more appealing, especially for the upcoming holiday season.
Benedek Lampert’s love for photography and LEGO can be seen in this autumnal scene that brings a mystical forest to life. In fact, so vivid is the image, it could easily belong to one of the scenes from JRR Tolkien’s epic novels! And you know, those little adventurers walking towards the mystical tree could easily be the ring bearer’s on their quest!
While the guitar attained legendary status nearly half a century ago, LEGO aficionado TOMOELL is finally giving it its rightful place in LEGO’s brick-laden universe. TOMOELL’s LEGO Fender Stratocaster is an immaculate beauty, looking very recognizably like the original. It comes with 6 faux-strings that connect from the bridge all the way down the fretboard to 6 tuning keys (I’m fairly certain those are representational too), and even sports the knobs, pickups, and the vibrato arm that guitarists love to use! Made from 335 LEGO bricks, the Strat is incomplete without its accessories, a 54-piece guitar-stand, a 287-piece Fender amp, and even a tiny foot-pedal for extra effect!
Speaking of Game of Thrones-esque magnanimous scenes, Rocco Buttliere, a Chicago-based architect has displayed his detailed skill and love of architecture with this Purple Forbidden City! Borrowing from the historic ages of the Chinese royalty, the design features a Hall of Supreme Harmony. Speaking of building this design, the designer says, “Finally, and probably most instructive to myself and perhaps others during this time of uncertainty, are a particular few words of a famous proverb by Laozi which kept me looking forward during this four-month undertaking: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Milan Sekiz combines his love for Iron Man, wearable designs, and all things LEGO with this Iron Man suit! The main challenge for Milan to build this Iron Man-inspired MOC was to find a way to improve his mobility while wearing it and of course make it visually appealing at the same time.
Built from more than a million Lego pieces, the Bugatti Chiron replica isn’t just a standing model, it actually drives too! Weighing over 3,000 pounds, the car can accelerate to slightly over 12 mph… which sounds even more impressive when you realize that the car’s engine is entirely made from Lego too! Two batteries in the car serve as its overall power source… and although there isn’t a gas or acceleration pedal (as the car is driven by voltage level), there is a working pedal for the brake.
Bring your favorite tunes to life with Hsinwei Chi’s Jazz Quartet. While LEGO is well established as a building base for landscapes, having those simple bricks bring to life the dynamic energy of a musician’s band is a sight worth marveling over! Each of these jazz players captures the stance of his tune perfectly, making us feel like we are almost there, watching those melodies being belted out by this quartet!
The ZX 8000 sneaker collaboration was announced by Adidas Originals as a part of its ongoing A-ZX series. Stepping on LEGO blocks but now they can’t hurt you because you have made allies with the enemy HA! Adidas usually has the classic monochromatic shoes with a few bold limited-edition drop and this sneaker design certainly incorporates elements from both brands in a way that none are overpowered – so you can recognize those Adidas curves but you can also relate to the LEGO colors! Digital sneaker god, Sean Wotherspoon, received a pair ahead of the official release and shared images that unveiled more details like LEGO’s iconic logo on the tongue tag and a miniature LEGO man modeled after him!
