In the early days of cycling, the best (if not only) frame material choice was wood. As you can imagine, technology has progressed and materials have evolved… but the beauty of a wooden bike remains unmatched!

The latest addition to Australia-based HTech’s lineup is the Aeriform Disc, an endurance road bike designed with performance in mind. The Aeriform Disc features a compact frame design, to increase frame stiffness and provide a better handling. Handcrafted from jarrah, blackbutt or marri, all local West Australian timbers, the woods’ natural qualities make it excellent for rough road conditions by reducing harsh vibrations. Construction is based on a hollow monocoque design. Using HTech’s own unique SCR (Selective Carbon Reinforcement) process, carbon fiber fabric is added to specific areas of the frame to strengthen it. This creates a frame that is stronger, and safer than wood alone.

The Aeriform also uses a PF86 bottom bracket and asymmetrical chain stays to increase the frame stiffness and save weight. It has wooden dropouts to increase the strength of the frame. This also removes the problem of connecting metal dropouts to a wooden frame and has the added benefit of enhancing the bike’s all-wood appearance.

Each is handcrafted to each individual’s requests – frame size, geometry, wood and finish.
