Breakfast

Kavita wakes up between 7 AM and 9 AM. She starts her day with a cup of tea, which is usually very light and milky. “My lifestyle and eating habits are very simple and can be followed by anyone. I am not an early riser. I believe in getting at least eight hours of sound sleep. I wake up early only when I have morning sessions,” says Kavita. She further adds, “When I have 7AM sessions then I simply drink a flask of water at 6.30 AM and follow it up with a cup of tea. In between my sessions I keep sipping water”.

Kavita prefers to eat breakfast after her shower and morning puja. “I avoid all kinds of ready-to-cook, processed foods. So a simple parantha cooked with very little oil and desi ghee (for the good fats) or a bowl full of cornflakes with milk and fruits are good. I also have a banana, some dry fruits and a handful of dates before my workout. This is followed by a glass of milk,” shares Kavita.

Midday snack

Talking about her day, Kavita says, “My days are usually unpredictable as I am, as I’m tied up with my fitness centre, schools (where I train kids) and personal sessions (at shoots) and at home. Usually my clients are TV personalities who have extremely busy schedules and can’t afford to allot time to exercise”.

For her midday snack, Kavita always carries a banana (which is also her favourite fruit) or some dry fruits, which make for great, hassle-free munchies. Sometimes, an energy bar works perfectly well for her. According to Kavita, the idea is to keep feeding the body to keep your energy levels up.

“I tend to burn everything I eat, with my schedule that involves a lot of cardio exercises. So I manage to eat whatever I like and I still cut the calories. But I take extra effort to keep it all homemade. Usually, I eat whenever I am hungry. I always keep a stock of dates and dry fruits for hunger pangs,” shares Kavita.

Lunch

On a normal day, Kavita’s lunch consists of a bowl of dal, two rotis, a spoonful of rice and lots of sabzi. “I am a vegetarian so dal helps me get the required amount of proteins. I am usually too tied up to take note of everything that goes into my mouth, but I am particular about eating right and avoiding outside foods. I also try to get all the required amounts of vitamins and minerals from natural foods and fruits. Luckily ghar ka simple, Indian khana fulfills all out nutritional needs,” says Kavita.

At around 5 PM, in between her sessions, Kavita eats an apple, orange, a banana or any other seasonal fruit. This keeps her energy levels up. At 7 PM, post her workouts, she tanks up with a glass of milk.

Dinner

“Sometimes my sessions run up to 10 PM, which means my dinner time gets postponed. My dinner again is simple, homemade food which consists of roti and sabzi. I avoid rice at night but what I can’t avoid is that little sweet indulgence, which is my weakness. So my dinner is accompanied by a small bowl of homemade dessert such as halwa or sewaiyyan. I think homemade fresh food is the key to eating healthy,” says Kavita.
