Potli massage:
Massages that use potlis or pouches made of muslin cloth are referred to as potli massages. These potlis consist of specially picked medicated herbs, which have different healing effects on the body. They are used to massage specific pressure points on the body and are either dipped into warm oil for a wet massage or dipped in sand for a dry massage, which usually lasts 45-60 minutes. This massage works on the theory of the confluence of fire and water along with herbs, which helps heal severe diseases like arthritis, spondylitis and osteoarthritis by relieving pain, decreasing inflammation and increasing flexibility.

The treatment is conducted under the guidance of a trained professional to avoid any kind of side effects as the procedure can be invasive. The oil used is a medicated one, which is made from a number of herbs like ashwagandha, shatavari, bhringaraj and brahmi in a base of sesame and sunflower oils, which have healing properties.
