Tea’s Best Kept Secret: Anandini Tea Room

Contrary to popular belief tea is not a hot beverage by nature. In fact, infusing tea with sugar and milk spoils its composition. Cold teas, instead, are flavourful, soothing infusions that will keep you cool through summers that have now become unbearably hot. We know all this useful gyaan thanks to the incredible tea sommelier – or “tea whisperer” as she’s called – Anamika Singh from Anandini Tea Room, a Delhi-based a tea lounge. Tea drinkers are pretty rabid about blends and tisanes and are constantly on the look out for the perfect cup of chai. Not only have we found it for them, we also asked Anamika to give us the dope on cool tea infusions, just to switch up the game. These blends taste amazing and are super healthy as well, and you’re welcome. Look out for our off-the-beaten-track Mumbai tea lounges next.

The cold infused teas:

1. Mountain Mist: Tea with lavender flowers and lemon grass.
Lavender has stress-relieving properties and increases blood circulation while lemon grass is a strong flavouring agent and has many health benefits, giving a healthy boost of vitamin A.

2. Whispering Wind: Green tea with rose petals and mint.
“Non processed teas like green tea and oolong are all cooling and this one is infused with rose petals and mint which have a refreshing flavour,” adds Anamika.

3. Redolent Rain: Green tea with lemon (no sugar).
This green tea is infused with lemon which gives it a refreshing citrusy flavour. “It’s in a chilled glass with no added sugar so that the flavours don’t get diluted,” explains Anamika.

Don’t these flavours and infusions make you want to sip on some cool, soothing tea? If you wish to visit them, check out more on them here.
