We’ve heard many cases of acid attacks that have ruined the lives of victims, typically girls, forever. It’s a fact that being a woman in India is difficult and no one knows this better than these women who have been victimised for no fault of theirs. A bad marriage, turning down a proposal or speaking up against eve-teasing left them like this, but the Sheroes Hangout founded in Agra in December 2014 has helped these acid attack survivors get back on their feet and earn a living.
Will Noor a London-based sociology student visited these women on her recent trip to Agra and documented their lives. She shared some pictures to create awareness about what life as an acid attack survivor looks like and these tastefully captured photos will make you want to meet these courageous women too. Here is some of her work.
