British comedian Bisha K Ali’s Facebook post has gotten over 9000 likes and over 6000 shares. The reason for the virality of the post is that it strikes a chord with women across the word. She talks about the double standards that women face and every woman seems to have been a target. It’s no surprise really.‘Are you really going to wear that outfit? You’ll give people the wrong idea.’
‘Why don’t you show off some skin? Dress a little nicer, that way you’ll be able to find someone. No one’s gonna notice you dressed like that.’
‘Never on a first date. What do you mean you don’t feel ready, this is the third date? Frigid bitch.’
‘You fucked him on a first date? What a slut!’
Just some of the things we hear every day. And the sad part is that most of it comes from women themselves. We have a whole bunch of women who judge other women and the vicious cycle just never ends.
Bisha’s post really puts into perspective all the things that we’ve been saying and judging all this while. Take a look and hit like if you’ve faced this kind of double standard and want to speak up against it.
