This newly opened all-vegetarian restaurant, which is just a stone’s throw away from my office is real surprise package. This cosy space is well designed with minimalistic décor and neatly placed tables and chairs, alongside an open kitchen so that you can watch all the action.

Wok this Way is a one-of-its-kind healthy Pan-Asian vegetarian restaurant, which prepares everything from ground zero. Yes, their Udon and Soba noodles, tofu and authentic oriental sauces are all made fresh. Which is why they take pride in their healthy and delicious meals.

The menu has some very interesting additions like red rice, quinoa, black rice and a varied variety of noodles too.

The restaurant also uses some very cool cutlery that’s made of recycled bamboos. So when the food is served and you can’t finish it, the good news is that you can just pack the whole thing up as a box and take it home. Sounds like a DIY doggy bag!

We began with the Tofu and Pepper Teppanyaki grill; it was a medium-sized bowlful of stir-fried tofu, sautéed with fresh black bean sauce. The sauce had a strong flavour, which complemented the bland yet soft tofu pieces and created a tantalising taste.

The next dish was a bowlful of Spinach noodles cooked with a mix of Hunan Sauce and X’ O Sauce. Hunan sauce is a combination of red chili and soya bean, which makes it a sweet and spicy sauce while X’ O sauce is a Hong Kong-style preparation that’s blended with brown onions and garlic.

This fiery combination makes for a great dish.

We also tried the Udon Noodles with Xiang Sauce, which is an authentic oriental sauce made of button mushrooms, scallions and fresh red chilies.

The other dishes we totally loved were the Khimchi, which tasted delicious even when vegetarian, served fresh with veggies and the Laksa that looked completely non-vegetarian until we bit into it.

The egg base in Laksa was replaced with cottage cheese and yellow bell pepper sauce while the meat chunks were substituted with soy chunks, in rich curry and noodles.

We were stuffed to the brim. The menu is extensive with a variety of noodles and multiple sauces to try. You can also add your favourite toppings (up to five) to your dish, along with condiments (up to two).

They give you a menu sheet that allows you to tick out all your preferences and place your order, which makes it easier for you to select.

They also have some good desserts on offer like the Java Cake, Infinite Caramel and Rouge Velour. But we weren’t too impressed.

It’s a good place for working professionals who are vegetarians to stop by for a weekday meal.
