I am one foodie, who would choose food over a man, any day! Good food is nutrition to my body and soul, which makes my heart sing happy songs. And in a city like Mumbai, after a long work day, when you get a chance to try some exotic delights, you wouldn’t trade that with anything else in the world. That is exactly what I did when I heard about the new menu at Shiro Mumbai.

At Shiro, it’s not just the food but even the ambience that is enchanting. Our gastronomical journey at this gorgeous restaurant began with sampling the chicken rolls, which made for a perfect starter. They were crisp on the outside but just one bite and we knew, it was melt-in-the-mouth. Then arrived the sushi platter which had fillings of crab, prawns and tuna. Cooked to perfection, the crab sushi had a sweet tinge, the prawn sushi was succulent and the tuna was smooth on the palate.

We then graduated to the next awesome part of the evening – live-grill. The Honey Black Bean Prawn Skewers along with the Basa and Prawn skewers were served to us right from the grills. Hot, spicy with a sweet tinge, this one was absolutely lip smacking and had us craving for more.

Next up was The New Zealand Lamb Chop which was chewy and succulent. We didn’t particularly like this one especially because what was served next blew our mind! Meet the Miso Black Cod. It had a burst of flavours ranging from sweet to sour. With every bite, the flavours unfolded in the most unpredictable manner. It kept us excited all the way along.

Chef Sameer shares, “At Shiro, we keep changing the menu every six months. When we had to do this menu, we decided to upgrade the quality of food. There is imported meat like scallops, pork belly, cod, sea bass etc. From pan-Asian flavours to live grills, there are a lot of new things added to the menu. This is a more exotic menu as compared to previous ones.”

Telling us more about the vegetarian fare, he adds, “We have kept in mind the vegetarians as well and there are a lot of vegetarian dishes for them to enjoy. There is something for everyone.”

Everything seemed just wonderful till we tried the Chilean Sea Bass with Chili Lime Reduction. It was too sweet for our liking. But if you don’t mind an extra hint of sweet in your main course, try this one.  The Chicken Masalam along with Garlic Fried Rice was a good combination. We were quite stuffed by now but hey, who can say no to a piece of heaven?

And the finale! Chocolate Cherry Bomb and Tiramisu. This was delectable bomb in our mouth. What we loved is the marriage of flavours between chocolate and cherry. All we could do was ‘aaah’ and ‘oooh’. So good, no one can eat just one!

So if you want to try new flavours, head to Shiro, Mumbai, because something amazing is in store with you.
