“If they weren’t good enough for the one they gave it to, why would they be good enough for you?”
That’s the message ‘No Hymen, No Diamond’ is preaching on its Facebook page. It’s the new wave of meninism, a bunch of misogynists masquerading as ‘men’s rights activists’. This group wants only virgin brides and it urges men to not pop the diamond (wedding ring) if there is no hymen. And in case you are wondering what the earlier message is about, the reference in it is to hymen and women’s virginity – “IF THEY weren’t good enough for the one they gave it to, why would they be good enough for you?”
This message has copped some criticism on its legitimacy and is being labelled as a ‘troll’ by many users. But it still does not negate some of the really spiteful, venomous posts which they have put up against women.
One post reads: ‘Women, even ugly ones, are easily able to have sex with almost any man they choose, some men will even pay for the privilege. When something is easily attainable, it is worth less.’
And another one goes: ‘As more women give themselves up before marriage, less men are actually willing to marry someone else’s used-up plaything.’

They even shared a post of a woman who had written about still being a virgin with an added note: Good for you Ellen Burkhardt, waiting for a man who loves you enough to commit for life instead of using you as some sort of afternoon plaything.
It’s unnverving that there is a group of men out there insisting on virgin brides and demeaning women who are open about their sexuality and these are not men from India, by the way. What is worse is that while trash-talking women who’ve had relationships, they mention nothing about virgin men and why men shouldn’t have relationships. Nope, it’s all women and it’s always women.
They even seem ignorant of basic science which says not all virgins have their hymens intact. In fact they have scoffed the theory of bicycles and horse riding breaking the hymen and even advocated the two finger test!

The content in itself is not shocking to us Indians. Most of us have heard some version of this during our lifetime from elders around us, khap panchayat leaders, random men on the streets and any time when some girl’s dating life was discussed. No, what is shocking here is that this is a bunch of young people from our generation who think this way and they don’t even live in India. So clearly this kind of misogynistic hatred is still prevalent everywhere, and they are using the cover of feminism to undermine any progress in attitude towards women.

It’s a matter for unease that there are 2300 active members on this page and the number is growing everyday. The only satisfaction comes from seeing other men who happened to come across this page tick them off for their regressive attitude.
But the best satisfaction comes from this response to one of their posts and it seems to have stymied the moderators for once.
