We often complain about the noise and dirt all around us, especially during the festive season. It’s easy to pick on your neighbour and rant about how ‘Sharmaji’s family is littering the society compound and we would never do this’. But let’s stop for a minute and check out if we are any better than Sharmaji.

Festivals are a time to celebrate life with great pomp and grandeur. Especially, Ganesh Chaturthi, when we take the idol and immerse it in water bodies and pollute them. It may seem harmless because God and religion. But, have we paused and contemplated – the water bodies are part of Mother Nature and we are in fact, killing her in a united way. Clearly, we live a hypocritical life and this video proves just that. Watch it and learn.

There are so many ways to keep the water bodies pollution free this festive season. Opt to buy the eco-friendly Ganesha idols, which is available at numerous places throughout the country or on websites. Also, consider taking the taking the Visarjan Challenge. After the Ice and the Rice Bucket Challenge, we now have the Visarjan Bucket Challenge. The Visarjan Bucket Challenge involves people immersing the idol in a bucket full of water instead of the local water body.

What have you decided? Would you rather be that hypocrite and only complain or actually do something about the pollution?
