There are days when we look for instant pick-me-ups like a warm hug or a dessert made by us. Although guilty pleasures like halwas might raise concerns like calories, once in a while there is no guilt in pleasure. Anjeers or figs are rich in antioxidants and vitamins like A and C, so goodbye fat-laden worries. Serve the anjeer halwa warm, like a hug.
Ingredients:
200 gms dried figs (anjeer)
3 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup blanched , peeled almonds
1/3 cup milk powder
4 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
For the garnish
2 tbsp almond slivers
Method:
- Cook the figs in boiling water for about three to five minutes. Drain and puree them in a food processor. Keep aside.
- Heat the ghee in a heavy bottomed pan; add the powdered almonds and sauté over a medium flame for about two minutes.
- Add the pureed figs, milk powder, sugar with 1/2 cup of water and cook for about five minutes till the sugar has dissolved, stirring continuously.
- Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
- Serve hot, garnished with slivered almonds.
