We women have been fighting for the equal rights for a long time now, and while we have succeeded to some extent, there is a lot that needs to be done before we are no longer referred to as the ‘weaker sex’. But it’s not only India; many other countries have laws that demean women in every possible way. Here are some of the global laws for women, which are absolutely ridiculous.
Females not allowed to watch football in Iran: Women in Iran are not allowed to attend football matches in the country. In the year 2006, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tried to make a provision for a separate section just for the women, which the authorities declined.
No property for women: Since 2011, there is a new rule which doesn’t allow women to get any property post divorce. The person under whose name the property is, gets it.

No mini skirts: In Uganda, women are not allowed to wear mini skirts. According to them, any woman who wears anything above the knee should be imprisoned.
Legal to beat woman: In Arkansas in USA, there is a law that allows men to beat their wives, but just once a month. Hard to believe, right?

False teeth issues: Women in Vermont require their husband’s permission to be able to wear false teeth in their mouth.
Illegal for women to work: In Turkey, women are not allowed to work. If they want to work, they need to ask for their husband’s permission and if they go against his wishes, they can be imprisoned.
Legal for women to have sex the moment they hit puberty: The moment a girl hits puberty in Yemen, she is married off, because according to the law, she is eligible to have sex. There are about 14 per cent of women in Yemen aged 15 who are already married.

No voting for women: Women in the male-dominated Vatican City are not allowed to vote.
No divorce for women: Voting was one thing, but women in the Vatican city are not allowed to divorce their husbands either, no matter what the condition is.
Driving not allowed for women: Women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive in the country. The government is planning to revoke the ban but still, women only above the age of 30 will get this privilege.
Marital rape is not rape: In India, marital rape is not considered rape. If a husband forces himself on his wife, no harm will come to him.
