Stealing that one hour a day from your super busy work schedule may actually be worth it with the kind of relaxing activities you can indulge in. No, we are not talking about getting onto Facebook and spying on your ex. In fact, we suggest you use the golden hour to do all the things you like doing or want to do but just can’t find enough time for. Here’s a list of 10 things that you can do to stress less at work and make the most of that precious golden hour.

1. Organise your emails: We’ve all had that dreaded sign on our accounts warn us of the low space. So use this time to read all your mails and reply to the important ones while you delete all the unnecessary stuff. Sometimes amidst all the flood of emails, you may miss out on important information, so use this time to sort your mail box.

2. Call old friends and family: What better way to utilise the golden hour than reconnecting with your loved ones. Take this time to make those phone calls and talk to your friends and family, catching up on all the latest happenings. This is a great way to make them feel loved and stay up-to-date with their lives too.

3. Read up: While you are at your desk, get over all those social sites and read some good stuff that helps you better your professional skills. Use this time productively to catch up on all the latest happenings in your field, improve your general knowledge or keep a lookout for other interesting stuff.

4. Do some shopping: It could be anything from buying a party dress to some new furniture or even your monthly groceries. It’s all just a click away. This is also a great time to shop for necessities that you don’t find time to go out and buy.

5. Look up a DIY project to do: Since you’ve got all this free time, why not look for an easy do-it-yourself project to work on over the weekend? This is a great way to get your creative juices flowing too.

6. Make a to-do-list: While you’ve managed to take some time off, why not use it to make a list of all the things you have to do in the days to come? A to-do-list is the best way to make sure you do everything on time; so get your pen and paper and get started.

7. Indulge in some exercise: We’d love to visit the little-used office gym but that might not be the best option. So why not do some exercises at the desk itself? Try some easy moves and simple stretches that will help you stay fit and active.

8. Decide on your daily menu: What to cook is the big question every woman faces everyday! Use your golden hour to set an easy and innovative (but totally achievable) menu for the whole week that will make your life easier and answer the ‘what to cook’ question.

9. Declutter your work space: Clutter creates confusion. So if you’ve got this hour free, use it to declutter your workspace and do away with everything you don’t need.

10. Play a game: Playing Soduku is a good way to exercise your brain and increase concentration and focus. But if that’s not your thing, try some other fun games online like Scrabble or a word search.
