Turn your living room into a space that is warm and comfortable.

Your living room is the most used and is like a public space of your home. It is a place where you host your guests and family, a space that is not private but meant for all. Therefore, while doing up our living room, we are often torn between “what I want and what others may like”! I suggest that you follow your heart with some basic principles in mind. This party season, spruce up your home with some really cool stuff starting with your living room.

  1. Have a seating for double the family members who live in the home.
  2. While you are it, structure the seating area that is not all low; for those with knee or back trouble, seating height is crucial (it is not confined to age) ideally between 15″ to 17″ from the floor level.
  3. Give more importance to comfortable, conversation-friendly seating and not around the television.
  4. The light should not be complicated and flushed. Create comfortable lighting with table and floor lamps in combination with another layer of bright lights.
  5. The coffee tables or centre tables in the living room must be placed conveniently.
  6. If you are blessed with a big living room, then add side tables / nesting tables around the seating.
  7. Avoid too personal photographs in the living room. Reserve them for a private area of your home.
  8. Put up art on the walls or a subtle wallpaper to add a dash of glamour to the space.
  9. A rug under the coffee table is a good idea to create the perfect ambience.

Your living room is a space that must make your guests feel comfortable. Be house-proud and enjoy being home to entertain them this party season. Make it feel warm and not intimidating. Happy partying! 🙂
