Bollywood movies often tread on the most bizarre logic. There’s the usual rona-dhona, followed by dream sequences in the Alps and at least one high-speed chase through the airport. All of these relationship goals are a bit extreme for normal people, aren’t they? Yet Bollywood tries hard for us to believe it could happen to any of us. #WishWish
As a Bollywood junkie, I have often looked to these classic love stories for the lessons they teach. I tried to use some of these lessons IRL but guess what? It backfired on me each time. So while writing this down, the only lesson I’d like to share is to not take these Bollywood lessons seriously!
1. Prioritising love 24X7

How many movies have tried to convince us that if you’re not 24×7 available for your love, it’s not love anymore? Damn, it’s tough!! Not to mention extremely toxic, considering you need to be your own person before you give your complete attention to a single individual. What about work, chores, and unwinding? Bollywood, tum bhi na!
2. 100% compatibility

Bollywood movies often show that the one you’re in love with is like your identical twin. WRONG. It doesn’t happen IRL and even if it does, you’d probably not be dating them. Compatibility is not like an online quiz where you’ll score 100; for romantic partners, compatibility is a great metric but it can never be a perfect score.
3. Life can wait if sachcha pyaar is around

Sachcha pyaar is such a scam, I don’t know how people do not call it out! Considering ALL Bollywood love stories show that keeping your life on hold for that one boy is alright, but I’d like to point out that that situation NEVER actually arrives. Who amongst us has the time to throw all our commitments out the window and only focus on finding our soulmate? Imagine asking your boss for leave because you think you’ve found a potential sachcha pyaar? LOL.
4. Stalking is alright, and sometimes, even cheating

Uncountable films have shown how stalking is considered cute in Bollywood. From turning up outside their door to legitimately following someone around, this one is just a bit too extreme to justify in real life. Additionally, Bollywood also tries to justify cheating, flirting, violence etc. in the name of love. Someone promote healthy boundaries please?
5. Boys initiate everything
Kyun bhai? Why can we not see some badass women on the silver screen starting the conversation on love?
