Nusrat Jahan’s decision to not reveal the identity of the father of her child not only raised eyebrows but also subjected her to unrepentant internet trolls. Her relationship with Bengali actor and co-star Yash Dasgupta has always been under public scrutiny, and even more after the birth of their son Yishaan.
Nusrat Jahan and Yash Dasgupta hint they are married
Recently, the actress shared pictures from Dasgupta’s birthday celebration and what has caught everyone’s attention is the cake with the word ‘husband’ written on it. This raised curiosity among fans and netizens whether they are married or not.
In a recent interview to the Times Of India, the couple opened up about their relationship where Dasgupta confirmed that he’s the father of her child and that he never had second thoughts about parenthood. He said, “Never. I didn’t flinch when she told me. I just asked her if she wanted to go ahead with it. It’s not my body—it’s hers. She needed to decide. I told her I’d never leave her side irrespective of her decision. I wanted to have the baby but couldn’t have forced my decision on her. She even told me that if you want nothing to do with the baby, it’s okay, I’ll keep the baby.”
To this, Nusrat added that he didn’t freak out at all and that they didn’t care what the world would think, “I knew they would call me strong or call me names.”
For the uninitiated, the Trinamool Congress MP married Nikhil Jain on June 19, 2019 in an intimate ceremony in Turkey with close friends and family members in attendance. Reports of the troubled marriage soon grabbed the headlines citing Dasgupta as the reason.
In June of this year, the actress released a statement stating that she doesn’t need to seek a divorce as her marriage with Jain was never valid under Indian law and the separation happened long ago.
The couple clarifies why they kept the relationship a secret
Elaborating on what prompted the couple to keep their relationship under wraps, Dasgupta said, “People should understand that wanting to keep your private life to yourself isn’t a crime. There was no hiding of the fact that we were having a baby. If we wanted to hide, why would we even have the baby, right? She was roaming around with a baby bump. What were people thinking? That we were pulling a prank on them? Was I expected to stand on the roof with a placard in my hand? I’m not that person.”
Interrupting the conversation, Nusrat reiterated, “Do people know whether or not it’s out of wedlock? Just because we don’t open up on things doesn’t mean whatever they are saying is true.”
The actress has always been put on trial for her life choices and her recent statement is also an invitation to a barrage of trolls. All that is needed is respect for their privacy. We wish the couple and the newborn a lifetime replete of love and happiness.
