Curvy makeup artists and beauty bloggers are redefining our ideas of beauty by teaching us that plump and soft is as beautiful as chiseled and sharp. Teaching people to be confident in their skin regardless of size, they are changing the world into one where it is not required to be thin in order to feel beautiful. Thanks to them, today curvy girls get representation in the beauty world, and can look up to beauty ideals who are not the sample size that most models or actresses are.

Here are some people we have to thank for changing the idea that a person has to be thin to be beautiful and rock a major makeup look!

1. Ankita Chaturvedi a.k.a  Corallista

The iconic Corallista is famous for her soft-spoken, calming makeup videos full of swatches and beautiful tutorials. Of late, there is one more thing we love her for, and that is helping us own our curvy bodies.

Ankita has eloquently opened up on a lot of things curvy girls struggle with, be it the views of society on a curvy person’s body, or the lack of shopping options for those who aren’t a smaller size.

2. Nabela Noor

Nabela has been a longtime favourite of ours for always being a confident ray of sunshine who owns her body with panache. Connecting with viewers with her candid views on being a brown, curvy woman of Bangladeshi origin in the West, Nabela has proved that beauty standards are nothing but a construct. She has taught us how to do makeup on a face that looks like ours, and made our body and face types feel included in a primarily Eurocentric, sample size-obsessed beauty world.

3. Priscilla Ono

Makeup artist to big celebrities in Hollywood, Priscilla was also one of the makeup artists for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty. For those of us who don’t have V-shaped jawlines or sculpted faces, Priscilla is proof of how different facial structures and different sizes can look great in their curves, and rock creative, bold makeup looks just like our thinner counterparts.

4. Patrick Starrr

Not only does Patrick represent brown skin with his makeup tutorials, but he shatters beauty standards which require people to be thin, light-skinned, and heteronormative in order to qualify as beautiful. There is a whole lot of technical makeup knowledge one can learn from him. And he is also a shining example of how there are many kinds of beauty beyond the limiting social constructs of what makes a body beautiful.

5. RawBeautyKristi

Kristi is the most honest, funny, and entertaining beauty guru who has proved that when it comes to being confident and comfortable in one’s own skin, size is irrelevant. Watching her create stunning beauty looks and own her body in her posts is a reminder that we, as curvy women, are beautiful and worthy, and that we don’t have to wait to be thin before we can start enjoying our life in our skin. This is the kind of #nofilter beauty ideal we need more of!

6. Jessica Kelley

Being curvy doesn’t mean you can’t show off your bikini body. It doesn’t mean you can’t go for a movie star-style makeup look. Or that you shouldn’t do all the things thin women do. Jess’s posts are a reminder of reveling in your makeup, hair, and clothes regardless of your size, and enjoying that creative outlet, instead of letting people’s negative opinions about your size make you hide.
