Going for a vacation can be exciting but going for your first vacation with bae is nothing less than nerve-wracking! Time to relax and bring out that girl he fell in love with.

Thanks to the lockdown, we’ve finally been able to save some cash and take that holiday we’ve been planning with our partner since 2019. Like many of us, this could be your first trip with your official partner but here are a few things to keep in mind. Trust me, you don’t want to come back with an empty bank balance and a truckload of distress.

1. Get involved in the planning

For your first trip, it is important to pick a location that meets both of your choices half-way. This way, you are both in control to a certain degree. Also, you should both discuss any specific dislikes or travel-related issues at this time. There’s no point in going to an exotic beach when all you want to see are the snow-capped Himalayas!

2. Discuss trip finances

A lot of couples tend to avoid the money conversation in the early stages of the relationship. This sets a very unhealthy tone as it only gets more difficult to discuss finances as you progress with your relationship.

If you’re confident that you will be able to provide X amount, stick to it instead of dilly-dallying and promising Y amount. The same goes for your partner. Make a tentative list of costs for you individually as well as with your partner. This strategy is very useful for the long term as well.

3. Be open but not without an opinion

While being ‘accommodating’ is often peddled as an ideal ‘womanly trait’, here’s where you draw the line. If you’re going to a new place, it is always good to be open to new experiences but without giving a false sense of acquiescence for the sake of someone you love. This is where you need to be a self-aware individual who knows where to draw the line.

4. Enjoy the intimacy

Lounging in a cute cafe with your new partner can be a liberating feeling. It’s best to soak in the moments instead of worrying or thinking ahead. The same goes for what goes on in the bedroom.

While the making out/holding hands stage might have come before the first trip, being alone together can be a freeing experience for both of you. Indulge in some sexy time to figure out each other’s likes and dislikes.
