There’s no greater love than the one between a father and his daughter. Dads are not only their daughter’s biggest cheerleaders but also the shield that protects them from the bad world. We came across one such beautiful father-daughter bond that’s bringing smiles and tears to many on social media.
A father saw his daughter crying on her birthday and decided to cheer her up with some words of wisdom with a pinch of humour and a dash of wit. Twitter user Rupashree, @jstalittleextra, shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message she received from her father on her 21st birthday. She captioned her post, “I don’t deserve my parents.”
Her father wrote, “Happy birthday, Manu beta. I saw you crying today morning and I want to say that stop crying over people who don’t deserve you. You are 21 years old now and you should know your worth. People come people go and you can’t change that. So know your worth and put yourself first.(sic)” Our favourite bit of his advice is his reference to Biryani, where he wrote that crying over biryani is better than crying over people. And we couldn’t agree more!
He ended his note saying, “Next time if anyone harasses you, better break his bone into two and bring him to our hospital.(sic)” The tweet went viral in no time and earned praises on social media. Here are some of the reactions.
A user wrote, “Well, your dad is absolutely right! Cry over biryani > people. Strongly agree on those sentiments but for real don’t cry over people who don’t deserve ya.” Another wrote, “So once a boy was harassing me during my school time and I told my dad. He said the same thing agar pareshan kare to mujhe batana par darna nahi. And that triggers lioness inside me.”
Another user commented, “That’s the advice my dad gave me when I was getting married, one wrong word n you break his head, baki main dekh lunga. I was dating the guy for seven years damn it, my popsie was an absolute darling and now 25 years later my hubby says the same to my daughter.”
And so on. Netizens are all hearts for this dad, calling him a legend.
Fathers just know how to make birthdays more special and magical, don’t they? Share the best advice your father ever gave you in the comments.
