One of the most anticipated movies of 2018, Manmarziyaan starring Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vicky Kaushal was released two years ago today. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film took a deep-dive into modern relationships and the many raw versions of it. The film struck the right chord with its take on modern-day lovers, who are extremely passionate but struggle to make up their minds. The film beautifully portrayed the journey of commitment-phobic lovers and finding true love after marriage. Here are some of the film’s best dialogues that capture the complexities of modern relationships and are relatable on many levels.
1. Because no matter what, love is never enough
“Mujhe nahi samajh mein aata yeh kaisa pyar hai aapka … Yeh woh wala hai jis mein jitna karo na kam padta hai” – Taapsee Pannu
2. Are you over your ex or still in love with your past?
“Jab ye Robbie tujhse pyaar karta hai….tab ankhein band karke mere bare mein sochti hai…..ya ankhon khol kar usko dekhti hai” – Vicky Kaushal
3. The selfless and unconditional partner everyone needs
“Mujhe na koi naukrani chahiye, Na escort chahiye…Na aapki nurse chahiye…Mujhe meri life partner chahiye” – Abhishek Bachchan
4. When you fall for the person who’s scared to take responsibilities
“Tu banda na bada sahi hai … lekin zimmedari ke naam pe na hagg deta hai” – Taapsee Pannu
5. Of love, longing, and separation
“Main tenu phir milangi … shayad ek khayal banke tere mann mein jotrangi … ya tere mathe di lakeer banke khamosh tenu takhti rawangi … main tenu phir milangi … kithe, kis tarah, pata nahi … main tenu phir milangi” – Taapsee Pannu
6. The fear of commitment
“Tu pyaar karne ke liye chaten tapke aa sakta hai, tu ghar nahi aa sakta shaadi ki baat karne?? Maine ghar pe bol diya hai kal aa raha hai Vicky baat karne. Aur agar tu nahi aaya na, toh main kisi bhi Ullu Ke Patthe Se kar lungi byah” – Taapsee Pannu
