Food for thought – ever since we welcomed the new normal,
traffic jams and busy markets have been replaced by extended hours of working
on our laptops. Next in line was the deranged sleep cycle and funny eating
habits. Well, one thing led to another, and now we’re constantly cribbing about
backache, soaring stress, postural problems, anxiety, and what not! But what’s
the way out?
To find all these answers and more, I enrolled myself into
Pragati Tyagi’s virtual yoga class on ‘MensXP x iDiva Experiences’ – and for just 150
bucks, I enjoyed the most blissful 60-minutes ever!
Starting The Class
With Mantra Chanting
After a friendly introduction of the instructor and
attendees, we embraced peace and calm with mantra chanting. When we finally
opened our eyes, I asked myself, “When
was the last time I took out 5 minutes to focus on my breathing and exhale
‘Om’?” Yeah, I couldn’t recall.
Yoga Asanas To Combat
Backache and Poor Postures
Pragati started the class with the ‘Cat and Cow Posture’ – a
simple stretch with a world of benefits! Right from backache to postural
corrections and battling fatigue, this asana is a masterstroke. Thereafter, we
eased into the ‘Downward Facing Dog’ – slightly tougher but worth it. I could
tell that my calf muscles and hamstrings loved this one!
Later, Pragati righty pointed out – most people tend to
ignore the thoracic spine in their routine workouts, leading to early ageing of
the spine. She made us practice easy-breezy poses to counter the same- something
I’ve promised myself to practice daily.
Addressing Stress,
Anxiety and PCOS
Student, homemaker or a working professional – mounting
stress is something we all have to deal with. And believe me, an SOS tablet
after a stressful day does more harm than good. Thanks to today’s yoga session,
I’ve learnt the ‘Child’s Pose’ – an asana that alleviates anxiety, relaxes muscles
and calms the nervous system. Additionally, it’s a nice stretch for your ankles
and glutes too!
After practising other stress-fighting asanas, we proceeded
to exercises that benefit our reproductive system, boost menstrual health and
help with PCOS too.
Quite literally, this one-hour long class offered head-to-toe
benefits that we otherwise don’t make time for. With over 5 years of experience
in teaching yoga, and 200+ hours of training from AVM Yoga, Rishikesh, Pragati
Tyagi is everything we could as for in a yoga tutor. Click here to book your class.
