Don’t let all those fancy Instagram stories and posts fool you. All your friends, classmates, colleagues, and relatives may be posting pictures with their baes in cutesy cafes or restaurants but that is a numbered minority. The real dates happen where one doesn’t care about the location and environment. Where love flows beneath spread out dupattas and the expenditure on a packet of chips and coke doesn’t pinch tight budgets.

Here are some off-beat, funny, non-conventional, and odd places the majority chunk of Delhi youngsters go to dates on:

Metro stations

Whether you’ve walked out at the Hauz Khas metro station or the Rajiv Chowk metro station, you are sure to find a couple sitting hand-in-hand in one corner. Sometimes you may catch a glimpse of a girl in high heels and a boy dressed impeccably in a shirt and jeans just sitting on the platform having romantic fights. They are not going anywhere. They came here for their date. They might have a roasted corn later, with extra nimbu masala

Parks

Central Park in CP, Deer Park, Garden Of Five Senses and even the park behind your house–couples have their favourite spots. They don’t want to be caught by parents and neighbours, so these parks give them enough space to mingle and blossom their new-found romance. They will do nothing, except catch a perfect moment to steal a kiss or a grope, but one cannot help excuse these lovebirds for it.

Historical monuments

Who wants to study culture and art when they can look into their lovers eyes and keep their head in their lap? Well, Delhi monuments like Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung Tomb, Purana Qila, and all such places have a mark of every die-hard couple who went there with their names carved in the ancient ruins of the old world.

Cars

Now, it is not necessary that if they are in a car, they can also be in a cafe having a three course meal. The car is a luck-by-chance offering from the God of Love. Someone in the family left the keys behind and viola!, the tank was full. Now couples sitting in the car stealing glances and kisses is a sight Delhiites should be used to seeing.

Mall… staircase

Yes, this chunk of the youth population managed to get to the mall, all dressed up and excited. But they choose to sit in the privacy of the mall staircase, holding hands and whispering sweet nothings. This is their idea of a perfect date with an added softy from McDonald’s and that is true love.
