“I just got carried away. I was drunk!”–can’t ever be an excuse to cheat on your partner. Nothing hurts more than to be cheated on. It’s perhaps the worst kind of breakup you’ll ever experience because it not only breaks your heart but also makes you question yourself–“Maybe I wasn’t good enough?” Self-doubt is perhaps the worst enemy you are led to fight with.
It gets even more unfortunate when partners who cheat try to justify or defend their act by giving all sorts of lame excuses. It’s 2019, and we are so done with these annoying and cliched excuses you partners who cheat come up with. Get a little more creative next time?
1. “I was about to tell you!”
And you want me to believe you?
2. “I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to hurt you.”
Really? Thanks for being so considerate and generous.
3. “I got an insect bite, this isn’t a hickey!”
Just like you got a few from me while making out?
4. “I was scared to tell you, not knowing how would you react to it. I wanted you to figure it out.”
Scared? Seriously? That’s the best excuse you could have come up with to cheat on me. Get creative!
5. “I didn’t feel it with you, I tried my best but I just couldn’t.”
Wow! How difficult was it to convey this to me than making me go through this?
6. “I was just flirting with her. I didn’t sleep with her. Stop overreacting!”
Would you act this cool if I did the same? Or wait! Do you expect me to wait for you to get on to the next level of flirting?
7. “I wasn’t getting it up. I wanted to check if it’s just with you, or whether something was wrong with me.”
Own up to the fact that you’re bored with me instead of making up stories. You need another woman to fulfill your fantasies and desires. Be a man!
8. “It was just a moment, nothing stops me from loving you. Nothing has changed. I still and only love you!”
Wait! Let me go and share a moment with another man. BRB!
9. “In my mind I had already broken up with you. So, considering that, this isn’t cheating. I was going to leave you anyway!”
In my mind, I have already murdered you, but this isn’t what you count as murder, do you?
10. “I know you’re going around with someone else behind my back, so I just wanted to teach you a lesson and give you a taste of your medicine. Revenge best served!”
Huh? What? That’s so lame and convenient to put the entire blame on me to justify the act.
11. “I wanted to see how much you love me and if you would still love me under any circumstances. Cheating being one of them.”
You’re sick. Get lost!
12. “You left me with no other option. Look at the way you treat me.”
Cheating can never be an option. Period!
