If there’s one thing women can’t seem to wrap their heads around, it’s how to lose weight. Chubby women want to shed some kilos, average-built women dream of being a couple of sizes smaller, and hell, even the slender ones crib about that (invisible) bulge. The world seems to be obsessed with attempting diet sprees and while some of us can actually stay committed to those carb-restricting charts, pulling off a decent weight loss, others ultimately give into the gluttony trap and disappoint themselves again and again and again.

One of the major times we let all our hard work in the gym or our diets slip, is when we let the midnight munchies get the better of us! According to health researches the world over, late-night snackers are more likely to pick up high-calorie foods as these occurrences are usually mindless binges. In turn, when you consume a large number of calories all at once, it ends up not only adding to the total count of calories you’ve eaten in the day but it also makes it tough for your body to convert the fat into energy. Why? Because at that hour of the night, your body is in minimum motion, slowing down your metabolism quite a bit.

For all those midnight hoggers who choose what they eat so wisely during the day, but lose control at night, we got in touch with fitness expert Yashovardhan Singh from Get Set Go Fitness. He shares with us multiple ways in which this indulgence could affect you. If you’ve related so far, give this a read:

1) Eating a whole lot of food in one meal might lead to a slow digestion process.

2) Don’t be surprised if you weigh more the next day–because in all likelihood, that may happen.

3) You may face gastrointestinal issues that can be a bigger pain than you think.

4) Munching and instantly getting into bed is often known to cause an uneasy feeling related with indigestion and acidity, which may also cause you to vomit.

5) If you have three to four meals per day, with the quantity of each meal decreasing as the day ends, will you be able to successfully see weight loss results.

6) Contrary to popular belief, eating carbs before sleeping is not such a bad idea–if done in a controlled manner. In fact, it will help you get a deep sleep. However, if you load up on them too much, it’ll do the exact opposite. Excess amounts of food in the gut at night can lead to sleep deprivation.
